An esteemed client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their dynamic team, focusing on Overhead Line and Substation projects. This role is pivotal in supporting the Project Manager through tendering, planning, developing, and delivering projects while ensuring the highest standards of health & safety, environmental compliance, and quality. The successful candidate will be integral to maintaining productivity and fostering a positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the health & safety of yourself, colleagues, and others, actively promoting the reporting of Positive Interventions.
• Conduct routine monitoring and inspections, reducing site hazards proactively.
• Develop and brief project inductions, undertake setting to work briefings.
• Compile and issue documentation and permits, maintaining a comprehensive register.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, developing and enforcing Inspection and Test Plans.
• Maintain and develop new skills in line with company training standards and legislative changes.
• Cover Site Manager/Project Manager duties during absences or on smaller projects as necessary.
• Monitor project progress to ensure programme timescales are met.
• Minimise project costs and capture changes effectively.
• Maintain an accurate daily site diary.
• Ensure all work adheres to company and client standards, policies, and procedures.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients.
• Ensure conformity to method statements and risk assessments, producing/amending as required.
• Manage Temporary Works planning and execution.
• Report accidents, incidents, and near misses appropriately.
• Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and public bodies.
• Identify and brief environmental hazards to the workforce.
• Deliver Toolbox Talks and safety briefings.
• Manage landowners, third parties, suppliers, and subcontractors professionally.
• Identify areas for business improvement to enhance safety and efficiency.
• Liaise with design and engineering teams on technical matters.
• Support the tendering team as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in the overhead line construction industry.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality aspects.
• Industry-recognised Engineering or Safety qualification.
• Experience supervising Overhead Line construction activities, including subcontract works.
• Experience dealing with clients, landowners, and third parties such as Network Rail, Highways, Environment Agency, and DNOs.

Skills

• Flexibility to travel across the UK.
• Full driving licence.

• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
• Strong communication skills.
• Effective teamwork abilities.
• Professional demeanour at all times.

This role offers a flexible base with frequent travel and overnight stays as required on projects.
