Head of Origination
The Head of Origination is a senior leadership role within the UK Energy Management business, responsible for defining and executing the commercial origination strategy across risk management services, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and flexible and structured energy products. The role is focused on accelerating growth of the UK origination platform, expanding the client base, and strengthening the organisation’s position as a key partner in the transition to a net-zero energy system.
Key Accountabilities

Develop and implement commercial strategy across risk management services, PPAs, and flexible energy products to generate margins and deliver a strong contribution to overall business profitability, ensuring the team meets both qualitative and quantitative objectives.

Lead, develop, and inspire a team of originators across Power, Gas, PPAs, BESS, structured products, and Biomethane.

Drive commercial growth through new client acquisition and expansion of existing relationships, both externally and across internal business units.

Originate, structure, negotiate, and execute complex energy and risk management transactions, including PPAs and bespoke structured products.

Work closely with Trading, Platform, and senior management to ensure alignment between origination, trading, portfolio management, and risk.

Where applicable, oversee Portfolio Management and Market Analysis functions, ensuring strong integration of market intelligence into commercial decision-making.

Maintain hands-on involvement in key strategic and high-value deals, providing leadership throughout the full deal lifecycle.

Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

Ensure adherence to governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.

Champion digital development and client-focused approaches within the origination function.

Mentor and develop originators at all levels, ensuring strong succession planning and talent development.

Experience

Significant experience (10+ years) in energy origination or energy risk management within wholesale gas and power markets

Proven track record of originating and executing complex energy transactions

Demonstrated leadership experience managing senior commercial professionals

Experience working within large, international energy or commodity organisations preferred
Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Energy, or similar

MBA, postgraduate qualification, or professional certification advantageous
