LSP at GOW 2025: UK Government Commits £1bn to Offshore Wind Supply Chain
LSP was on the ground at Global Offshore Wind 2025 yesterday as UK Energy Secretary Ed Miliband unveiled a landmark £1 billion investment to strengthen the UK’s offshore wind supply chain and deliver high-value jobs across the sector.
In his keynote address, Miliband confirmed the funding will support the Industrial Growth Plan and represents what he called an “historic partnership” between the UK Government and private sector, designed to “bring offshore wind jobs to Britain” and “turbocharge the sector’s brilliant work.”
The £1bn commitment includes:
-
£400m from the Crown Estate, announced earlier that morning, earmarked for ports, manufacturing, testing and R&D facilities—including £50m from the Crown Estate’s existing accelerator programme.
-
£300m from the £1bn Great British Energy fund, pledged in April, to target domestic supply chain investment.
-
£300m in matched funding from the offshore wind industry itself, delivered via the Industrial Growth Plan.
The announcement underscores growing momentum behind UK offshore wind and reflects the vital role supply chains will play in meeting the government's 2030 capacity targets.
LSP continues to play a central role in supporting the offshore wind industry’s development. From accelerating port infrastructure to enabling innovation in floating wind and grid integration, we're proud to be contributing to the sector’s future.
