LSP have partnered with an experienced, innovative and fast growing renewable energy Asset Management company with over £300m of assets in their portfolio to recruit for an exciting Financial Controller position. The role will manage the Renewable Energy funds and report to the Finance Director.
Our client specialise in the development, fundraising and management of energy, resource and infrastructure opportunities with a primary focus on UK opportunities, and have to date funded and managed over 350MW of Solar PV projects since 2013.
As the Financial Controller your main areas of responsibility will be:
  • Managing the reporting and supporting the investment team of the UK solar platform to support its growth through a new distribution partnership
  • As the financial controller of these portfolios you will be responsible for managing the reporting team and leading on transactional accounting and working alongside the Commercial Asset manager
  • Supporting the Finance Director managing head office reporting and leading on reporting management and responsibilities across the group
  • Ad hoc project work supporting the investment team and Board
  • Management of management accountants and ledger clerks
  • Review of management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations for a number of project vehicles
  • Close out and preparation/review of Solar Portfolio board reporting including cashflow forecasting
  • Covenant compliance reporting
  • Presentation of financial board papers to Solar and infrastructure board
  • Preparation and review of budgets.
  • Quarterly preparation/review of UK solar portfolio consolidations
  • Identification and review of Monthly/Quarterly KPI reporting
  • Review of VAT returns
  • Lead Responsible for banking liaison
  • Liaison with auditors and preparation and management of audit files
  • Ad hoc activity to provide support to the investment managers relating to existing and potential investments and transaction accounting
  • Financial due diligence of Solar portfolio acquisitions
  • Due to the small nature of the company there will be a number of ad hoc duties that will assist the accounting team and investment managers
Profile / Skills
  • Well-presented individual with outgoing personality
  • Qualified CIMA ACCA or ACA, with two years post qual accounts experience
  • Strong A-levels
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and MS Office
  • Accounting package experience Sage/ xero/ Tas
  • Keen attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to take responsibility and work with limited supervision
  • A reliable, honest and discreet individual
  • Strong communication and personal skills
  • Although no previous experience of the low carbon sector is required it will be advantageous if the candidate is able to demonstrate an understanding of working in a reporting environment such as Investment management or practice
