Contracts Manager


Join our clients team as a Contracts Manager and support the UK’s transition to a low carbon, sustainable, economy.
Based in London (with some travel required) you will be part of the early development of a UK offshore windfarm project. You’ll ensure the overall contracting strategy and programme for the entire project is followed, ensuring project suppliers deliver against time and budget targets. You’ll manage detailed negotiations with external suppliers and project partners at a procurement stage ensuring best-in-class value on development and capital expenditure contracts (Devex and Capex) and will review and monitor all contracts to ensure maximum commercial value for the project from development through to construction and divestment. You will be responsible for the handling of claims in your scope of work, which may involve utilising third party consultants. Reporting to the Finance and Commercial Manager you will work closely with various project departments including but not limited to technical, insurance, treasury, health and safety.
Main responsibilities:
  • Managing detailed contract negotiations during procurement of development and capital expenditure contracts.
  • Analysing contracts to ensure maximum commercial value for the project.
  • Advising on appropriateness of contracts and contracts form.
  • Handling contract additions and contract clarifications, including variations as required.
  • Setting of mitigation system for avoiding unplanned costs arising from project contracts after signing.
  • Preparing and accomplishing negotiations concerning contract variations and deviations.
  • Drafting off contractual notices and communications.
  • Management of contractual claims from receipt to settlement.
  • Management and administration of all contractual forms and a including bonds, guarantees, warranties, etc.
  • Valuing of applications for payment and inputting into cost reporting including accruals.
As a minimum:
  • Degree educated or above, or professional qualification, in a relevant subject, contract law, engineering, business administration or business law.
  • Have an extended expertise and professional experience in the drafting of contracts and claims management of long-term infrastructure project; preferably gained in an international context in the offshore wind sector and preferably in the UK.
  • Have extensive technical and practical knowledge of large, multidisciplinary teams involved in the execution of large, complex project.
  • Be knowledgeable in English law construction contracts including CDM regulations.
  • Have a sense of responsibility, self-confident manner, professional communication skills.
  • High level of flexibility and ability to cooperate with project partners in a constructive manner.
