Senior Commercial Manager 

Location: London

This position is responsible for supporting our clients growth strategy, via the formulation and securing of key commercial instruments - including offtake agreements and non recourse project finance, working with Political and European stakeholders to influence the development and delivery of Government back offtake regulations.

Furthermore, the candidate will also use their strong commercial experience to guide future growth opportunities across Europe – linking project growth to market commercial fundamentals to extract value. 

To meet our clients growth targets, the right candidate will be able to combine their commercial appetite with their deep knowledge of the Eastern European power market, including existing relationships with policy and political stakeholders, energy marketers, large final users and project finance lenders.

The role will be part of our clients European Regional Development team, which leads the creation of growth opportunities across all technologies in Europe. This position reports directly to the Business Development Director and will collaborate extensively with the other members of the Regional Development Office, Project Finance, Risk and Origination teams.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Working alongside the central Global Head of Origination and the Head of Project Finance whilst ensuring that all European projects benefit from the optimal commercial instruments to drive additional project returns
  • Work alongside project development partners, to ensure that the development of our clients investments in these markets are aligned to, and benefit from the market commercial opportunities available
  • Work with Political stakeholders and policy makers, to ensure that emerging markets (e.g. Romania) develop renewable regulations that allow of project offtake and financing in accordance to our clients requirements
  • Lead all commercial activities linked to competitive tender (CfD, RFP) activities, including auction simulation and project level optimisation
  • Provide in market / in regional knowledge, expertise and contacts to lenders, offtakers and end users in the formation of commercial project requirements
  • Contributes to market view and strategy with their extensive knowledge on emerging contract structures, changing government policies, power market fundamentals, and competitive intelligence on offtake pricing
  • Design and development new market / new technology (Hydrogen / Storage) proposals for Northland Power in Europe, leveraging a commercial analysis of the value creation opportunities and commercialisation of the appropriate business models
Core/Required Education, Experience & Attributes:
  • University degree in economics, finance, engineering or similar
  • Strong quantitative aptitude with an extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a offtaker or project finance bank
  • Romanian / Polish and English business language fluency, both written and oral (MUST HAVE)
