Today marks a major milestone with the full operational launch of the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan, developed by Skyborn Renewables in collaboration with their partners Yunneng. Yunneng, a joint venture between Skyborn, TotalEnergies, Electricity Generating Public Company (EGCO Group), and Sojitz Corporation, has played a key role in the construction and operation of the Yunlin project.
This landmark achievement sees the wind farm generating clean energy at its design capacity of 640MW, a significant step toward Taiwan's renewable energy goals.
Located just 8 kilometers off Taiwan’s coast, in waters 35 meters deep, the project spans 82 square kilometers and is home to 80 wind turbines. The electricity generated will be delivered to the Taiwanese Power Grid via two onshore substations, serving the energy needs of 600,000 taiwanese households.
With the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm now fully operational, Taiwan is assured to benefit significantly from this world-class renewable energy project. As the second-largest wind farm in the country, its successful completion underscores Taiwan’s commitment to increasing the share of renewable energy in its power mix and reducing its carbon footprint. The project is a pivotal step in Taiwan’s broader ambition to become a leader in offshore wind energy in the Asia-Pacific region.
