This role offers a blend of hands-on technical maintenance and strategic site management, ensuring daily challenges and growth opportunities.
Principal Accountabilities:
Safety & Compliance:
- Act as the site’s operational lead, with the authority to halt work on safety grounds.
- Champion a proactive safety culture; comply with permit to work and RAMS; report hazards, near misses, and learning actions.
- Ensure site readiness and compliance, including inductions, authorisations, toolbox talks, and equipment certification.
Technical Maintenance (Hands-On):
- Perform HV/LV inspections, testing (e.g., IR, secondary injection, PD), routine maintenance of switchgear/transformers/LV systems; basic fault finding and remedial actions.
- Conduct defined mechanical tasks (e.g., torque/bolt stretch, hydraulics, minor repairs on cranes/lifting equipment) within competence.
Site Focal Point & Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate and oversee all contractor activities, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards.
- Act as the primary site focal point: maintain the short-term site plan and readiness checklist (people, permits, tools, spares, access, vessel/SOV slots).
- Request/prepare RAMS and permits in line with the SAP’s technical plan; ensure materials and calibrated tools are staged.
Data, Systems & Reporting:
- Raise/close work orders and update asset histories in the CMMS; log defects and spares usage promptly; escalate trends to SAP/Asset Management.
- Provide concise daily/weekly status to SAP/PM (completed tasks, issues/defects, HSE observations, lessons learned).
Faults & Standby:
- Participate in standby rota; support first-line response, stabilising conditions and handing over to SAPs/Engineers for complex faults.
Continuous Improvement:
- Capture lessons learned; propose improvements to maintenance methods, logistics efficiency, and documentation quality.

Minimum Experience & Qualifications:
- Essential: Minimum 3-5 years’ experience at 400kV transmission level, ideally in offshore renewables.
- Demonstrable experience in site management, contractor coordination, and operational leadership.
- Prior experience in a transmission, renewables, industrial, marine, or similar hazardous operational environment.
- Demonstrable competence in both electrical and mechanical maintenance.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to work offshore/onshore, on rotation, and in confined spaces as required.
