Electrical Engineer
The Electrical Engineer will sit within our Clients Electrical System & Project Engineering team, supporting the Project’s Engineering and Package Managers with responsibilities including:

Working across the full project lifecycle from design through to construction and operation, the Engineer will be responsible for ensuring a robust through life design of the project’s electrical system supporting on all aspects of the HV generation and transmission system up to the connection point to the existing transmission system.

Experience working with Transmission System Operators, Certifying Bodies, Suppliers, Contractors , and regulatory authorities e.g. Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), Eirgrid and ESB.

Lead electrical aspect of the grid connection process end to end, ensuring compliance with national and international electrical standards, grid codes, and permitting requirements.

Support the definition of the main electrical system design for the project, covering all aspects of the onshore and offshore HV system.

Development of specifications, subsequent TQ clarifications and ensuring specification compliance with selected consultants and contractors.

Supporting working groups chaired by Wind Energy Ireland.

A strong focus on interface topics, for example in the onshore substation and offshore platform(s).

A strong focus on safety through design and through life performance of the assets.

Close liaison with technical experts in the Electrical Components team and Engineers working on similar projects to ensure their knowledge is effectively utilised on the project.
Must have experience/qualification

University degree or comparable education ideally in electrical power engineering.

Fluent English speaking and writing.

Experience in project engineering of offshore wind or similar large HV transmission projects.

Experience of the grid connection process and grid code in Ireland, ideally dealing with both EirGrid and ESB.

Experience of the contestable build process in Ireland for connections at 38kV and above.

Knowledge of electrical plant including large power transformers, switchgear, onshore transmission substations, static and dynamic reactive power compensation solutions, MV/LV auxiliary systems and cables.

Appreciation of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS).

Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills, highly motivated, confident and resourceful.
