Senior Accountant & Financial Control

They are seeking a Senior Accountant & Financial Control to support the financial management of complex, high-value projects across Central & Eastern Europe.
Role Overview
This role sits within the project finance function and is primarily focused on project accounting and financial administration, with supporting responsibilities for project financial control. The successful candidate will have strong experience across international finance and tax, working with multi-entity structures across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities
Project Accounting & Financial Management
- Maintain accurate project financial records and ensure correct posting of costs
- Validate project cost and pricing calculations for accuracy
- Support forecasting and update cost monitors based on project progress
- Prepare commercial project documentation for status meetings
- Manage invoicing in line with contractual terms and project milestones
- Ensure timely applications for payment to customers
- Record and monitor non-conformance costs and support reporting
International Finance & Tax Compliance
- Support compliance with tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions
- Assist with VAT, withholding tax, transfer pricing, and PE requirements
- Support cross-border project setup and ensure correct tax structure alignment
- Coordinate with tax, treasury, legal, and external advisors on international matters
- Ensure compliance with local GAAP standards and IFRS
Risk & Compliance Support
- Support identification, tracking, and reporting of financial risks (tax, insurance, currency, etc.)
- Support compliance with export control and hedging/currency regulations
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation for audit readiness
- Ensure compliance with Financial Reporting Guidelines (FRG) and local accounting standards across multiple jurisdictions, supporting accurate month-end close and audit-ready project reporting.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Participate in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with Project Management, Contract Management, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Compliance, and Audit
- Communicate project financial performance and issues to stakeholders
Essential Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong experience in project accounting and controlling for external customer projects
- Demonstrable international finance/tax experience across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting across Europe
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Advanced MS Office skills (especially Excel)
- Process-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong commercial awareness, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment
- Self-organised and able to meet deadlines
- Strong communicator with experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Exposure to risk management and commercial finance is advantageous
