The Company
We are supporting a growing UK-based clean energy developer focused on delivering low-carbon energy solutions for industrial and commercial customers in their search for a Business Development Lead. The business works on the development, deployment and operation of emerging energy infrastructure designed to support the transition away from fossil fuels.

Operating across several sectors including industrial energy use, off-grid power and transport applications, the company partners with organisations seeking practical pathways to reduce emissions and adopt alternative energy sources.

The Role
The Business Development Lead will support the expansion of the company’s commercial activity across the UK. Reporting to the Commercial Sales Manager, the role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing customer engagement and supporting the negotiation of long-term commercial agreements.

This is a hands-on commercial role suited to someone with experience selling technical or energy-related solutions and an interest in supporting the growth of emerging low-carbon energy markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the full commercial sales cycle including lead generation, qualification, proposal development and contract negotiation

  • Identify and engage with potential clients across target sectors

  • Develop tailored commercial proposals and presentations

  • Maintain and manage the sales pipeline through CRM systems

  • Build strong client relationships through regular engagement and clear communication

  • Coordinate internally with technical, operational and finance teams to develop appropriate customer solutions

  • Monitor market activity, customer requirements and industry developments

  • Represent the business at relevant industry events, conferences and client meetings

  • Contribute to improving internal commercial processes and sales materials

About You
You are commercially minded, proactive and comfortable working in a dynamic environment. You enjoy building relationships with clients and are motivated by working in sectors linked to the energy transition.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a commercial role within industrial gases, energy, oil & gas or a related technical sector

  • Experience supporting or leading solution-based commercial agreements with sales cycles typically ranging from 3–12 months

  • Track record of developing and winning new business opportunities

  • Understanding of hydrogen and/or alternative fuels and their role in industrial decarbonisation

  • Strong interest in the energy transition and emerging energy technologies

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Experience using CRM systems and standard office software

  • Full UK driving licence
