Purpose of Role
Lead the delivery of technical due diligence services across wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Ensure outputs are high-quality, commercially robust, and aligned with lender and investor expectations to support financial close, acquisitions, and asset performance. Provide strategic leadership to the team, manage key client relationships, and oversee delivery quality, commercial risk, and operational monitoring activities.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and Senior Project Managers within the due diligence team.

Oversee project allocation, resource planning, and team capacity management.

Define and uphold technical and reporting standards consistent with lender and investor expectations.

Lead the review and negotiation of technical and commercial aspects of EPC, O&M, and asset management agreements, ensuring risks are allocated in a manner acceptable to financiers.

Support technical aspects of financial close and acquisition processes by coordinating engineering, commercial, and legal workstreams.

Identify and manage project risks, escalating when required.

Act as the main point of contact for key stakeholders including clients, lenders, and investment entities.

Present findings, resolve concerns, and defend technical positions under tight timelines.

Provide oversight across all project phases — from early due diligence through construction and operational performance monitoring.

Guide the review of financial models, ensuring technical inputs align with commercial assumptions and risk tolerances.

Lead strategic initiatives to grow the service line pipeline, including bid preparation and client targeting.

Represent the organisation at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
Detailed Duties
Technical Due Diligence:

Delivery and oversight of technical due diligence for wind, solar PV, and BESS assets.

Oversight of technical reporting and quality assurance.

Coordination of inputs from internal specialists across relevant disciplines.

Evaluation of capital and operational expenditure assumptions.

Review of key contracts including EPC, turbine and module supply, BESS procurement, O&M, and PPAs.
Technology Tendering and Negotiation:

Oversight of technology selection and procurement for turbines, inverters, modules, and BESS systems.

Involvement in manufacturer site visits.

Leadership in negotiating technical and commercial elements of major project contracts.
Site Inspections:

Oversight of site inspections across renewable technologies.

Involvement in reporting, equipment assessments, and construction progress certifications.

Monitoring of construction activities on behalf of financing parties.
General:

Act as a senior technical authority within the organisation for specific areas of expertise.
Project Management:

Oversee the management of consultancy engagements, including programme and budget responsibility.

Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure high-quality client delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
-
Over 10 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, including at least 5 years in technical due diligence or lender's engineer roles.

Proven experience leading teams delivering due diligence across multiple technologies.

In-depth understanding of project finance principles, technical risks, and commercial contracts (EPC, O&M, asset management).

Strong ability to interpret and challenge financial models from a technical standpoint.

Skilled in client relationship management, negotiation, and stakeholder communication.

Experience in operational monitoring and performance optimisation of renewable assets.

High standard of technical report writing and confident public speaking or presentation skills.
