As our Senior Substation Engineer – Group Manager you will provide technical design support and Quality Assurance checks for power delivery projects consisting of substation control and protection and substation physical drawings and calculations. This role also requires the ability to support multiple projects and provide client interface. Additionally, this role requires excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work independently.
In addition, you will participate as a key contributor in Power Delivery Workload meetings, Power Delivery Business Development meetings, and National Power Group Business Development meetings. Be aware of future project resource requirements based on marketing efforts and successes within Power Delivery. Maintain contact with Directors and other Group Leaders to anticipate workload.
Also, you will be responsible for the technical and operational performance, financial performance, and growth of your assigned Group within a geographical Region. A Group consists of 4-10 individuals affiliated with a function, discipline, service line or market sector. The focus for you and your team will include Product Delivery, Staff Development, Financial Management, & Business Development.
 
Responsibilities
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Assign and monitor the performance of technical resources within the Group.
• Coordinate resource availability with contract backlog; borrow or loan resources as required to ensure a balance of resources and backlog.
• Resource allocation shall be coordinated with all groups within Power Delivery.
• Manage the total flow of work through the Group’s workforce, ensuring compliance with client expectations of cost, schedule, and quality.
• Support, ensure the application of, and provide for improvements to, corporate technical standards.
• Strive for continuous improvement by identifying and integrating “best practice” approaches and standardization.
• Develop, maintain, and apply a rigorous program of quality assurance and quality control; be responsible for quality breaches; perform project post-mortems; design and apply corrective actions as required.
• Participate in the development of annual hiring plan as part of annual budgeting process.
• Participate in Group hiring requisition process.
• Ensure monthly compliance with budget values for individual and group utilization.
• Monitor progress of projects within the Group
• Assist Project Managers in assessing the progress of the work.
• Work with Practice Development Leader and Regional Business Unit Leader to identify and develop market opportunities that are strategically aligned with client marketing plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineer, Power Engineering, or related field(s).
• Five (5) plus years of experience, Protection & Control and Substation design experience.
• Experience managing substation engineering teams.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is a must.
• Must have direct experience in the power industry. Familiarity with the standard of quality demanded by power and utility clients is required. This role requires experience with quality assurance checks to uphold high internal and external quality standard
