Communications Manager

As the Communications Manager you will report directly to the managing director, who operates under the direction of the Board.
Your main focus will be to develop a communications and external affairs strategy and plan to support key business objectives, including first site construction. You will employ a range of strategic activities to deliver this plan including narrative and message development, media announcements, social media content, events and stakeholder management at a national, local and trade association level. An element of the plan will working closely with shareholder government affairs teams to deliver some elements. You'll also work on crisis and issues management and there will be an element of internal communications.
You'll be responsible for liaising with leaders and colleagues within the iJV to ensure continued alignment of the strategy, plan, positioning and messaging with business objectives and will need to flex this as needed. You will also lead a working group of communications and external affairs representatives from the shareholder organisations. As part of the role, you will work closely with emitter projects within the East Coast Cluster to ensure a joined-up C&EA strategy, messaging and delivery.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

Experience
- To be successful you will need to be able to demonstrate a proven track-record of executing communication plans that enable business outcomes (‘head of communications’ level) and to have significant knowledge and experience of leading communications.
- Media relations
- Stakeholder engagement, including local communities
- Experience of planning and construction communications
- An ability to manage multiple interfaces and stakeholder groups at any one time
