Commissioning Technician - 66kv Switchgear

Our client is seeking a 66kV Switchgear Commissioning Technician to join their team.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections, Function tests and Secondary Injection Testing on 8VM1 Switchgear.
  • Conduct function and communication tests via SCADA Simulator to ensure correct operation/commands, feedback, parameters, interlocks and alarms.
  • Inspection of WFO HV apparatus to ensure correct identification is in place.
  • Accompany the Quality Team on WTG Walkdown Inspections
  • Proactive engagement with the WTG Contractor.
  • Identify issues and concerns and report back to the relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in daily planning and reporting meetings.
  • Complete Check Sheets and upload onto the Company Master Document Register and WTG As-Built Document Records.
  • Application of Principle Contractor Safety Precautions.
  • Ensure the Commissioning Manager and Stakeholders are informed of daily progress.
 
Deliverables
  • Ensure 66kV Switchgear is fit for purpose and Safety Devices operate as expected before Load-out.
  • Early identification and notification of Issues and Concerns to allow swift rectification.
  • Ensure ITP’s are complete on schedule
  • Ensure Check Sheets are uploaded to the upload onto the Company Master Document Register and WTG As-Built Document Records.
 
 
Requirements
  • Relevant technical education, for example, time served apprenticeship or similar with a HNC qualification (or equivalent) in an Electrical Engineering Discipline.
  • 8VM1 Familiarisation and Operational Introduction advantageous
  • GWO’s: Working at Height, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Basic First Aid.
  • Proficient in Commissioning activities including Secondary Injection Tests on 66kV Switchgear.
  • Experienced on Siemens Energy 8VM1 Switchgear desirable but not mandatory
  • Understanding the theory of testing, the effect on the protection relay functions and can interpret positive and negative test results
  • An understanding of different types of protection relays and their functions.
  • An understanding of Electrical Single Line Diagrams including the meaning of symbols.
  • Experienced in testing to the SCADA network and expected results.
  • Significant and demonstrable experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Fluent written and verbal English with good communication skills.
  • Self-starting with planning/coordination and problem solving abilities.
  • Good standard of IT literacy (i.e. MS Office). Ability to produce project specific documentation as required to support the project and implementation of Company procedures.
