Our client is looking for an Connections Manager to join their team and lead connection contract management processes and be responsible for the stakeholder management of generator customers to support efficient generation connection to the business’ network. The Connections Manager is a senior manager who will report to the Director of Engineering and Customer Connections. This role has a key co-ordination component with System Network Design, Finance, Grid & Regulation, Engineering and the companies project teams to manage the connection contract and stakeholder engagement of generators and will require an understanding of the contract clauses and their application to a distribution connections contract.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Take the lead in initial engagement with a generator and support them through the application process to connect to network
• Manage ongoing engagement with the generation customers and where support is required at these meetings to discuss progress, co-ordinate internal resources through engagement with other discipline leads for meeting support
• Drive the connection contract to initial draft completion through review and approval process to final position and then issue to the generator within an agreed timescale
• Manage the ongoing contract engagement from connection to completion being the key department contact for the generator
• Upon engagement with other key functions such as grid and regulation drive policy change to improve engagement with the generator or implement new or amended regulation policy
• Support the Director of Engineering and Customer connections to drive improvement, support reporting and promote the business objectives to the wider team
• Have day to day accountability for the connection contract management and team reporting to the Director of Engineering and Customer Connections
• Take a proactive approach to meet programme deadlines co-ordinating with other departments when required
• Accurately report progress each month for all customer connections, including key activities linked to delivery and risk management
• Take a positive and highly visible lead in developing relationships with other DNOs, TOs, NESO and Ofgem regarding customer connections
• Forge a positive working relationship with internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration across disciplines

 
 
 
Requirements

• An understanding of the generator connections process in the UK with particular emphasis in Distribution
• Excellent communication and engagement skills when reporting, negotiating, or dealing individually with stakeholders and direct reports
• A high standard of written and oral English, with previous exposure to a contract environment with the ability to describe and provide clarity on particular contract clauses to stakeholders.
• Organised individual who can multi-task and manage multiple customers in any period
• Degree qualification or relevant previous experience will be considered for this role
• You will have a proven record of accomplishment in a regulated environment with experience of generator
• contracts, regulation, network development or a similar associated field
• Have experience of engagement with the National Grid Electricity System Operator and or other transmission owners or distribution owners in the UK
• Team management experience, developing individuals within a team
