Our client is looking for a Procurement Category Manager to join their team, this role involves reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement Category, Regional, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive effective negotiation, supplier management, and contract execution. You will co-develop and implement procurement strategies that maximize value and support project goals.  You are to manage effective relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders and fostering a culture of partnership and continuous improvement. Upholding and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to ethical practices and sustainability is critical in this role. Act as the key focal point for communication on the assigned category, especially in integration projects.
 
Market and Supplier Analysis
Conduct market data analysis, supplier evaluation, negotiate commercial terms, lead supplier development, and support post-purchase activities (claims, non-quality issues, invoice problems, warranty disputes, maintenance problems).
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Category Managers: Plan, negotiate, and prepare for purchasing products for offshore wind (WF) installation.
  • Supplier Sourcing: Identify and engage suppliers through the RfQ process to meet specifications and target costs, especially for locally sourced components.
  • Procurement Process Management: Ensure the correct completion of procurement processes and tools via a “Procurement Action Plan” prior to contracting.
  • Contract Updates: Maintain regular updates of contracts, including taxation and other inputs, to control product costs.
  • Procurement Strategy Enforcement: Implement procurement strategies, including local content requirements and other local specifics.
  • Supply Base Management: Manage the supply base to identify, pre-select, qualify, and select the most competitive global suppliers.
  • Communication Management: Maintain proactive communication with other category managers and ensure effective internal and external information flow.
  • Cost Control Support: Assist in controlling current product costs by ensuring regular updates of contracts.
  • Supply Relationship Management (SRM): Lead SRM initiatives that may lead to frame agreements.
  • Cost Reduction Projects: Lead and report on cost reduction projects and engage in LCOE initiatives.
 
Required
  • A degree in Supply Chain Management, Sales/Marketing, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience with strategic procurement or related supply chain activities
  • Good knowledge of Offshore Wind International supply chain and experience on international sourcing
  • Commercial, Strategic and Analytical mindset as well as technical insight
  • Strong self-performance management and delivery focus with the ability to balance conflicting requirements of quality cost and time with track record of delivery within agreed timescales
  • An effective team worker, with experience of working in a multi-functional project team and motivational capacity for stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Good all-round understanding of financial, commercial and business principles and risk mitigation practices plus sufficient knowledge of contract law to recognise exposure, if any, and seek appropriate advice from the legal team when required
  • Demonstrated negotiation prowess and an effective communicator
