Our client is looking for an experienced and motivated Environmental Compliance Lead to join their team and play a pivotal role in driving their environmental compliance initiatives. A key challenge will be building an understanding of how their business operates in its various technologies and areas and then maintaining and streamlining systems and process that will manage and measure the Environmental compliance through the asset lifecycle and other technologies.

Location - London, Durham or Edinburgh.

Hybrid work available.

  • Providing support for driving forward Environmental performance while providing assurance of compliance with Environmental legislation, company policies and standards
  • Developing and supporting the implementation of Environmental management standards and procedures for the Governance and Oversight of all of the Ireland business.
  • Work in collaboration with business teams to support UK&I to maintain a compliant Health and Safety Management System (BMS) that achieve the ISO Accreditation process
  • Develop and monitor Leading and Lagging KPI’s to allow the UK&I Business to set Environmental management targets.
  • Create a trending process around Environmental aspects and impacts across the business based on reporting, inspection and statistical information.
  • Having a proactive and innovative approach to Environment matters and in relation with the H&S ones, in a collaborative manner with the business
  • Delivery of Environmental awareness and support to communications campaigns and approval of External Environmental courses.
  • Provide oversight to ensure the compliance with environmental permits, licences and consents necessary for the continuing operation of the UK&I Business.
  • Work closely with all teams across UK&I and the wider business to drive forward Environmental performance an reporting in line with environmental legislation, company policies and standards and to promote the sharing of best practice.
  • Plan and deliver assurance audits and reports to senior management on the environmental performance of the business, with recommendations as to further actions towards closing gaps.
  • Encouraging high quality Environmental reporting through the Incident Reporting system, identifying issues through trend analysis and highlighting areas for improvement.


  • You’ll be qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent and have appropriate Environmental experience and/or Renewable’s experience in addition to:
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with site staff at all levels, including the ability to influence behaviour.
  • Competence in auditing and compliance assessments, the provision of management reports and identification of corrective actions.
  • All round knowledge of HSE aspirations and requirements or ability to learn in role.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and consistently deliver against tight time constraints while working flexibly as part of a team.
  • Be able to recognise over complexity of systems and processes and develop innovative and simpler alternatives.
  • Have the ability to develop a thorough and detailed understanding of management systems and processes.
  • Be able to provide practical Environmental advice and support.
  • Effective communication skills, including written, on a one-to-one basis as trainer or coach, and with groups of people.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to change attitudes and influence behaviour.
  • Be able to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines when required.
