Co-Location / Integration Engineer - BESS

 
Location: Warsaw, Poland
 
Our client is looking for a proactive and driven BESS Co-location Engineer to join an expanding team of energy storage experts. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the integration of energy storage assets with our existing and forthcoming solar PV projects. Responsibilities will include assessing project feasibility, overseeing
colocation workflows, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and offering support across
project planning and implementation stages. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will spearhead the delivery of colocation energy storage initiatives, making a substantial contribution to the organisation's growth and success in the Polish energy storage market.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for completing analysis of solar PV sites to assess the potential of BESS co-location.
  • Collaborate with the legal, divestment, engineering, and financial teams to meet re-permitting milestones.
  • Supporting with detailed site analysis with the Engineering team to optimise the site design according to BESS size and required equipment.
  • Completing revenue modelling of BESS assets with pre-development and operational PV sites.
  • Assist with documentation preparation of the Land Lease.
  • Agreements, Grid Connection Acceptance, and Zoning Decisions.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for higher management.
  • Work with external companies to produce detailed financial reports for portfolio level re-permitting analysis.
  • Support as an Analyst for the BESS Development and Project Managers when not at full capacity.
 
 
Requirements
  • 1 to 3 years of work experience in BESS or Solar development projects regulatory documentation preparation.
  • A bachelor's degree in energy engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical
  • engineering, environmental science, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English and Polish is requiredAn understanding of development considerations for BESS assets including electrical connection requirements, spacing, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of grid connection requirements, grid codes, and grid stability considerations specific to the Polish electricity grid.
  • Comfortable reading and editing straight-line diagrams for battery energy storage systems.
  • Confident in managing interactions with multiple Polish Distribution System Operators (DSOs), legal representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient in delivering necessary grid and regulatory documentation to facilitate smooth BESS co-location processes.
  • Organised and pro-active person, that is willing to lead and take on further responsibilities as the BESS team grows.
  • A self-motivated, team player that is always looking for ways to help the team improve its processes.
  • MS Office (advanced financial modelling with Excel is advantageous).
  • BESS modelling software (Homer, StorageVET) AutoCAD.
