Project Development Engineer/Analyst - BESS
Location: Berlin, Germany
Our client is looking for a highly motivated Energy Storage Analyst to join the
growing BESS team. The Energy Storage Analyst will play a critical role in
supporting the design, development, and implementation of energy storage projects. Responsibilities will include assessing project feasibility, evaluating technology options, conducting cost-benefit analysis, and supporting project planning and implementation. The Energy Storage Analyst will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of energy storage projects and contribute to the growth and success of their organisation in the rapidly evolving energy storage market.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with project control, keep track of project costs and update CAPEX models.
  • Complete project analysis for colocation opportunity identification and RtB acquisitions.
  • Update project revenues models according to latest subsidies, auction results, regulatory changes, or governmental policy in Poland and new markets.
  • Produce regular opportunity analysis.
  • BESS assets according to renewable buildout and changing energy markets.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with energy storage projects, such as technological, financial, regulatory, and market risks, and evaluating strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Produce market analysis reports for countries of interest.
  • Updating financial modules to evaluate the economics of energy storage projects, including investment analysis, revenue projects, and IRR calculations for Poland and new markets.
  • Assess various storage technologies, including battery chemistries, system configurations, and control strategies to identify suitable solutions for specific applications and market conditions.
  • 1 to 3 years of work experience in BESS or Solar developmentprojects.
  • An understanding of development considerations for BESS assets including electrical connection requirements, spacing, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development to stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and policies relevant to the energy sector for conducting thorough energy analysis.
  • Comfortable understanding price trends, energy yield reports, and presenting research topics in previous work or academic field.
  • A good understanding of arbitrage markets and ancillary service opportunities for BESS assets in Poland.
  • Motivated, pro-active person, that is willing to lead and take on further responsibilities as the BESS team grows.
  • A self-motivated, team player that is always looking for ways to help the team improve its processes.
  • Advanced financial modelling with Excel is advantageous
  • BESS modelling software (Homer, StorageVET)
  • A bachelor's degree in energy engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental science, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Polish or Hungarian would be advantageous.
