The Onshore Delivery – Engineer within the CTO will be responsible for performing all engineering aspects of all onshore business growth projects; commencing at prospection, wind and hydrogen projects are to be technically specified and delivered through development, consenting and agreement (including FID), and construction ensuring Engineering Excellence prior to handover into Asset Operations.   
This is a great opportunity for you to be Onshore Delivery - Delivery Engineer where you will be responsible for establishing and coordinating the multi-discipline project specific engineering team and work process required within assigned projects; supporting the successful delivery that complies with the project requirements, whilst ensuring appropriate engineering design and quality standards and specifications are maintained.
 
Responsibilities
  • You will deliver projects safely within agreed timeframe and budget, you will interface with the various Onshore Business Unit teams as well as the wider CTO Central Engineering, Technical Governance and Electricity Connections.
  • You’ll contribute to a strong, collaborative, and positive working culture within Onshore Delivery and support the Principal Engineering Manager on strategic ambitions, focusing on innovation and continual improvement to support business unit targets.
  • Support the Onshore Delivery Engineering strategy for wind and hydrogen, including developing the team, building relationships, liaising with other delivery and engineering teams, and sharing of best practice, lessons learnt and coordinated approach.
  • Lead the planning and prioritisation of suitably qualified and experienced resource to meet onshore business growth projects requirements, including the management and supervision of any required internal or external third parties (consultants, sub-contractors, etc) for project deliverables.
  • During the origination, design, and construction, you will challenge the discipline engineers that operational learning and requirements are key considerations, lifetime costs are optimised, and decommissioning and/or life extension is considered.
  • Coordinate the development of project technical specifications across various project engineering disciplines for inclusion within appropriate tender assessments across balance of plant work packages, while managing technical queries.
  • Responsible for ensuring all technical and design risks, assumptions, issues and decisions are identified, captured, recorded and addressed appropriately through management of the project engineers who will provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure risk level is ALARP.
  • Ownership of the Project Design Management Plan to ensure a consistent approach to delivery such that safety, quality, programme and value are measured and balanced to deliver optimised project outcomes, with all design assessments, advice, decisions and recommendations being fully documented for Design Assurance Reviews at critical phases of the project (conceptual design, pre-FID design, detailed design and delivered design).
  • Coordinate technical and commercial due diligence, site visits, factory and site acceptance tests and support commissioning as required.
  • Providing weekly reports or escalations as required to the Principal Engineering Manager.
Qualifications/Experience
  • You would have as minimum a relevant engineering degree or equivalent. Chartered or working towards membership of an appropriate body would be desirable, but not essential.
  • You would possess Project Engineering and Quality Assurance experience within the development and construction of power generation projects, ideally within wind and hydrogen. You would have managed risks and challenges in an industrial-scale generation environment.
  • You would have working knowledge of construction design and management regulations, design and installation codes of practice.
  • You would demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, health, environment and quality. NEBOSH or IOSH (or equivalent) certification is desirable, but not essential, as training can be provided.
  • It would be advantageous for you to have experience and/or or a qualification in Project Management.
  • You would have a proven track record of building successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders and reporting line.
  • You would have a good command of Microsoft Office package (excel, word, power point, project, etc).
  • You would possess a full clean driving license with the ability to work away from base location as and when required.
