WTG Technical Manager (O&M)

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for defining and implementing the asset integrity strategy for Structural Balance of Plant Assets (WTG Towers, Transition Pieces, Primary and Secondary Support Structures and Foundations (incl. Subsea & Submerged Items).
- Responsible for defining and implementing the operations and maintenance strategy for Transmissions Assets, the Balance of Plant HV/LV Electrical Equipment.
- Plan and manage the execution of all O&M activity relating to Transmissions Assets, Balance of Plant Electrical equipment, and the Structural Balance of Plant Assets
- Supervise the activities of all subcontractors executing scopes of inspection and maintenance activity on Transmissions Assets, Balance of Plant Electrical equipment, and the Structural Balance of Plant Assets
- Responsible for the coordination and management repair activities in the event of defects, damage or faults incl. snagging from construction / installation phases as well as warranty cases during operation
- Ensure that all assets under management adhere to statutory requirements for Health, Safety and Environmental performance and comply with project specific requirements
- Support the O&M Manager in managing (and documentation progress of) responses to open project issues – including ongoing works and technical proposals through liaison with service providers
- Review relevant technical proposals received from project service providers (from both technical and business case perspective)
- Recommend technical and design improvements
- Own and manage operational risks in the scope of Transmissions Assets, Balance of Plant Electrical equipment, and the Structural Balance of Plant Assets
- Responsible for the coordination and management of onshore/offshore cable repair activities in the event of defects, damage, or faults
- Review relevant technical proposals received from project service providers (from both technical and business case perspective)
- Review and define BOP maintenance procedures and execution control in the field.
- Develop and approve the periodic BOP maintenance plan.
- Plan and execute a training plan for the technical team.
- Manage site teams to ensure safe operation of BOP equipment.
- Perform periodic inspections and following the activities.
- Ensure that all necessary tools on the site are available and calibrated
- Support technical discussions with regulatory agencies, if necessary
- Analyse and promote technical discussions
- Establish KPIs and monitor them
- Develop, monitor, and ensure the monthly and annual budget is executed
- To develop practices of operational excellence seeking the optimization of the assets.
- Support the O&M Manager as required in the day-to-day management of the operational generating assets, including scheduling, and controlling site works, reacting to emergencies, co-ordinating unscheduled maintenance and responding to network outages, site issues and faults and failures.
- Identify project risks, propose mitigating measures, and monitor on an ongoing basis
- Carrying out requested reporting and where required, in-depth analysis of technical issues
- Challenge proposals from contractors and service providers and seek the best resolution to technical issues
- Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors, and service providers to maximize their performance.
- Support in the close out of the construction punch list items
- Support other technical functions for inspections and operational reviews.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Extensive experience in an O&M environment within the offshore wind, Oil and Gas or Electrical Transmission industry and understanding of best practice
- Broad experience of the management of electrical safety rules systems
- Broad experience in asset integrity management with a specific focus on transmission systems, offshore wind substructures and foundations subsea
- Profound knowledge about structural design principles and standards and typical operational risks / failure modes and corresponding mitigation measures
- Good knowledge about asset information systems (asset registers or similar) and requirements for storage of inspection reports, etc. enabling long-term asset monitoring
- Good communicator with proven ability to build sound business relationships and represent them in project meetings and presentations
- Solid technical understanding of the full asset and of the relationship between technical issues on turbines, balance of plant, grid etc. and commercial impacts for owners
- Competent when dealing with quality standards, best practice procedures, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Tenacious self-starter, professional, organized and process driven
- Able to work independently
- IT literate (familiar with Microsoft Office & SharePoint; willing to learn and make full use of internal systems)
- Strong understanding of the importance of data management processes
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to establish, maintain and develop effective relationships.
- Self-driven, proactive and solution-oriented attitude
- Experience of working in health and safety critical environments and ensuring the establishment of HSE culture throughout the transition and operational start-up phase.
- IT and presentation skills.
- Background in Offshore EPC projects / operational start-up of offshore windfarms (min 2 Projects)
- Training and certification in WTSR (Wind Turbine Safety Rules), for projects involving SGRE / Vestas / or similar
- IT competent within the Microsoft Office package with an ability to quickly learn how to use software tools.
- Profound knowledge of operational processes in operational windfarms
- Solid technical understanding of the full Asset (WTG, Cables, ONS, OSS, Foundation) and required Maintenance
- Fluent in English (CEFR Level C1 as minimum)
