Production / Resource Engineer

We are looking for a Resource Engineer, who will support the delivery of wind and solar projects worldwide. Our projects range from site identification and resource assessment to pre-development and bankable feasibility studies.

The Resource Engineer will contribute to the development of feasibility and conceptual studies, preliminary design & cost estimate studies, energy resource assessments and yield analysis and well as participating in technical due diligence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Production of internal wind/solar resource and Energy production reports
  • Management and review third-party energy production and site conditions reports
  • Review of Site Acceptance Reports from wind OEMs or 3rd parties
  • Wind farm turbine layout and solar farm design and energy optimisation
  • Decision making on best wind/solar analysis methodology to use
  • Design of optimal site-specific measurement campaigns for wind and solar sites, including cost/benefit assessments of different technologies
  • Management of the installation, maintenance and decommissioning of temporary meteorological masts, remote sensing units, and solar measurement stations
  • Management of the collection and quality control of meteorological data to ensure maximum data coverage and minimum uncertainty
  • Ensuring meteorological station contractors comply with relevant safety and technical requirements
  • Engineering judgement on final energy production number
  • Act as liaison with turbine manufacturers regarding turbine suitability
  • Communication of site-specific energy production and site conditions risks to project teams
  • Review power curve and power performance warranty
  • Other tasks defined by the line manager

Key Requirements:
  • 5+ years’ experience of development, design and construction phases of wind farms and solar parks
  • Capacity to work in an international team
  • Proficient in the use of energy calculation software for wind and solar (PVSyst, WAsP, WindPRo, Windfarmer, Openwind, Windographer)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar
  • Use of CFD calculation software (e.g. WindSim, Metodyn) an advantage
  • Pragmatic and creative problem solving
  • Energy calculation report review, including wind data QA/QC of wind and solar data
  • Experience in Remote Monitoring Devices, e.g. SODAR/LIDAR
  • Excellent communication skills (internal and external stakeholders and partners, technical and non-technical)
  • Full clean driving license

Educational Background
  • Degree in Engineering or Related Field

Desirable skills & experience
  • Proficient in QGIS or similar
  • Experience in Homer an advantage
  • Experience of Quality, health and safety aspects of renewable development projects
  • Electrical design co-ordination between Utilities / contractors / suppliers
  • IOSH trained, for example: Managing Safely for Wind Power (IOSH)
  • Other languages (Italian, Spanish, French are desirable)
